These Apple Funnel Cake Rings w/Homemade Caramel Sauce are the perfect fall dessert. The house smells of apples baking and the smell of the funnel cakes remind you of those hot summer visits to the county fair.
Delicious warm or cold, topped with homemade caramel sauce. OH MY!!!
Ingredients
1 cup Bisquick
1 egg, room temp
1/2 cup whole milk
2 Pink Lady apples, pared & cored
Directions
Fill the deep fryer with fresh vegetable oil. Heat up the oil.
Add the Bisquick to a medium sized bowl and then add the egg and milk. Mix together with a spoon.
Whisk to remove lumps.
Drop a couple of drops of batter into the hot oil to see if it is hot enough. Once it has turned brown, your oil is hot enough to fry the apple rings.
Put one apple ring at a time making sure each side is completely coated with the batter.
Drop one apple ring at a time. A standard sized fryer will hold 4 rings at one time.
When the battered apple ring begins to turn brown, flip it over to the over side with a fork. Watch carefully so they will not burn.
Cover a baking sheet with paper towels.
When both sides of the cooked apple rings are done, remove them from the deep fryer and drain on paper towel lined baking sheet.
Allow to cool enough to touch.
