Household Hacks for Stain Removal
Stains can be an absolute pain in the butt. Whether the stain is grease, mustard or grass, you dread the sight. However, fret no more as there are easy ways to get rid of these stains. Here are some household hacks for stain removal.
Grease– While your first thought may be to pour water on the grease spot, this won’t work because oil repels water. This means that when grease comes into contact with water, it may set the stain permanently. Instead, gently dab the stain with a paper towel, and then sprinkle some baby powder on the stain and allow to set overnight.
Makeup– Makeup products such as lipstick and foundation are oil-based products. What this means is that you can’t use water on this, just like the grease stains above. For lipstick spots, soak some hairspray on the stain, allow to set for 10 minutes and then dab with a damp cloth.
Wine– For red wine stains, sprinkle some table salt on it and allow to set for 5 minutes before rinsing with cold water while rubbing the two pieces of cloth together. Then, just launder as normal.
Grass– Grass is one of the toughest stains to get rid of. However, if you have rubbing alcohol in your home, getting rid of that stain is a piece of cake. All you need to do is to mix a solution that is half water and half rubbing alcohol, soak the spot and allow to dry naturally. Afterwards, rinse with cold water and launder as usual.
Coffee– Have you just dripped your coffee down the front of your outfit and are wondering how to get it out quick? Club soda, of course. You can add some club soda right on the spot. Then, just blot the spot until it disappears.
Mustard– Vinegar is one of the best products to use for getting rid of mustard stains. Before laundering, soak the mustard stain in a solution that is half water and half vinegar.
