I Wonder How Many?

When I look at this image, I see that it is weathered and worn. However, it has stood the test of time. It must have been beautiful when it first was built, not saying that it is not still beautiful, it is. I wonder how many farmers, young and old, from near and far, came to lend a hand in the raising of this barn.

I wonder how many smiles, tears, births and deaths, this old barn has seen. Perhaps it was built in the mid or late 1800’s, I wonder? And how many children rode the horses, milked the cow, feed the pigs or marveled with wonderment at the new births. I wonder how many?

I wonder how many families struggled through snow, hail or rain to tend to the animals? I wonder how many families lived in the farmhouse, who grew up and started a family of their own? I Wonder how many?

I wonder how many animals have given birth inside this barn and how many generations have grown up within it. I Wonder how many?

I see that this old barn has withstood many seasons, the barn boards perhaps once a bright red, are now old, weather-beaten and grey. However, someone decided to use the tin roof as their palette. It looks so beautiful!

I wonder how many cans of paint it took? Or how many hands it took to paint that picture? Was it just two hands or perhaps more?

I wonder how many smiles this beautiful painting has brought to the passersby? I wonder how many people in an airplane, whether a private one or a commercial one for that matter, broke out into a great big grin once they passed this old weathered barn and seen the beautiful mural. I wonder how many?

I wonder if this old barn roof was painted for the people passing by in planes to smile at, or to bring fond memories back to the human and animal souls that once lived on that land. I wonder!

I also wonder if it was painted so beautifully to bring a smile to the face of our creator up above.

I truly wonder!

Such a beautiful picture….where I grew up there were old barns everywhere and I often wondered the same things about them. I’ve thought of old houses and old schools the same way. Thanks for sharing a beautiful picture and wonderful thoughts. It took me back in time, if only for a few minutes. 🙂
