Save Your Hearing Day
Save Your Hearing Day is May 31st. It is important to take care of your hearing ability by reducing the noise levels on your stereo or tv. Exposing your hearing to loud noises at certain decibels can cause damage to your inner ear and hearing levels.
I do know important it is to be able to hear out of both ears. I have been hearing impaired since childhood. I only have about 2 percent hearing out of one ear. I have learned to lip read very well and or get the gist of the television shoe by the actions.
An ear operation to patch a hole in the inner ear canal and remove scar tissue did not improve my hearing ability. I did have a hearing aid several years ago that somehow got misplaced. I have simply done without one for several years.
One on one conversations can be understood for the most part if in a face to face position. Other than that, forget it. If a crowd of people are talking, I am lost.
Phones ring unanswered. I often jump if I am in the kitchen and one of the kids walk in to it. I cannot hear footsteps. A community drum band were beating their drums right outside my living room window, hubby turned and said to me, Do you hear the beating of drums? I responded with a from where, from the tv show? I did not hear a thing.
I truly wish I had 100% hearing. I have missed the sounds of many things over the years. Take care of the hearing you have before it is gone forever.
