Home Remedies for Eczema
If you have eczema, then you know how annoying it can be at times. Between the red skin and all that itchiness, it is enough to drive anyone crazy. The good news is that there are some things you can do at home to relieve your eczema.
Oatmeal– Oatmeal baths have been helping to moisturize and soothe skin for many years. There are anti-inflammatory properties in oatmeal’s chemical constituents, which will help to get rid of some of the discomfort from eczema inflammation. For this, you will need 1 cup of oatmeal and some cheesecloth. Add the oatmeal to the cheesecloth and tie in a knot. Add to the bathtub and fill about halfway with warm water. The water will turn milky. Soak in the water for 15-20 minutes, then pat yourself dry.
Honey– Since honey is very sticky, it is something you want to use on smaller patches of eczema rather than the larger ones. Honey features both anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. You want to be sure that you use raw, organic honey. To use, apply the honey over the patch of irritated skin and let it set for 25-30 minutes. Then, just rinse well with cool water and pat dry. You can use this treatment two or three times a day.
Coconut Oil– These days, it seems that coconut oil is good for pretty much anything, from boosting your energy to helping dry lips. It also works well with this skin condition. The oils and the fats that are in this product will help to keep your skin from drying out. To use, just apply it to the areas that are affected and allow to dry. You can reapply it throughout the day as needed.
Fish Oil– You have probably heard that fish oil helps to lubricate areas of your body. Not only does it lubricate the joints in your body, it also helps with the itching that is associated with eczema. You can ingest it daily in a capsule or liquid form. The directions will be listed on the bottle that you purchase. Hint: if you are using the liquid form and don’t like the taste, add it to some orange juice first.
