From the Pages of a Book

I have to admit, quite frankly, that I do not read books as much as I used to. Not only is there not enough time in the day, but my eyes do not see as well as they once used to. Small print books are basically of no use to me, but I do enjoy reading on my tablet or computer as I can enlarge the print as much as I need to.

I came across this picture one day and thought that not only was it interesting, but seems to fit the scenario when you are swallowed up in a good book. In fact like it so much that I just have to share it with you.

From the Pages of a Book

Have you ever had an instance in which you were so enthralled by a book that it simply felt like it jumped out and grabbed you. As this picture shows the image of a man reaching out and holding the woman in a loving embrace, this is how a good book should captivate you. Mind you, not all books are filled with romantic overtones.

No matter what genre the book falls under, a well-written book should captivate your attention. It should be written so that you feel like you want to throw your arms around a certain character, or run like the dickens because something is chasing after you. Or it can be a book that is thought provoking.

No matter whether you read printed material or a book on an electronic device, delving into books help to create awareness of other places and times, whether it is a figment of the author’s imagination or whether the place/event happened sometime throughout history.

From the pages of a book one characters come alive in our mind and compel us to think and dream of a place and event that we possibly are familiar with or maybe not.

Have you ever read a book that you simply could not put down until it was finished? If so, what was the name of the book?

What an interesting image! I do love to get swallowed up by a good book too. There’s nothing like snuggling under the blankets with a good book. It’s been awhile since I’ve read something really good but I did like The Other Boleyn girl. It was so different than anything I’d ever read and I enjoyed it so much I’ve refused to watch the movie because I don’t want it to ruin the experience of the book for me.
