Family Labor Day Vacation Ideas

The long days of summer are almost over. Labor Day gives us a chance to enjoy the long weekend and celebrate our work efforts. It is also a time in which many families take a vacation together. Some families choose to go away for the Labor Day weekend. Others choose to stay within their local vicinity or stay at home. Whatever you choose to do this Labor Day, make sure you have a good time celebrating with your family and /or friends.

Stay Local

Stay near your home and do one of the following.

Museum Time

Plan on visiting the local museum. Lots of interesting artifacts and historical facts that may just surprise them. Delve into the history of your city or state. Sometimes museums and art galleries may have reduced admission prices. These reduced prices are usually during certain hours and could be during specific holidays. Special displays may also be shown on certain holidays.

Take Kids to the Arcade

Plan on stepping back in time and taking your kids to the arcade. That is, if they are young enough to need parental guidance. Older kids tend to like gaming systems. As for the arcade, show your child some of the pinball games that you played as a kid. I am sure that you will be entranced by the lights, action, and the 10x bonus. Maybe your child will end up beating you at your own game. You will never know unless you rise to the challenge.

Go Somewhere Fun

National Parks

Getting outdoors during the long weekend is something that families like to do. During the long weekend many national parks offer free admission. Ir would be a great getaway for the whole family. Get your camping gear together and packed up for the trip. You all can enjoy going swimming, fishing, and camping at a national park.

Go Swimming

Head out to the beach or lake to take a end of summer dip. Labor Day is often the time when beaches are closed for the rest of the year. You could spend time at the beach during the day and then tour the town at night if you are planning to be there longer than a day.

Have a Staycation

Throw a neighborhood party, camp out in the backyard, or have a movie night with the whole family. Having a staycation is a great way to have fun when you have limited funds.
