Celebrate the 4^th of July

Every year, on the 4^th of July, we celebrate America’s birthday. While the traditional celebrations include backyard barbecues and fireworks displays, there are some unique and creative ways in which you can celebrate July 4^th.

Flag a Neighbor’s Yard- Do you have a neighbor that has served our country? A nice gesture would be to bring a flag or several small flags and insert them in their yard. This is a great way to show that person that you are thinking about them. You want to be sure that the flags don’t touch the ground.

Use Products Made in the USA- A creative way to celebrate the 4^th of July is by wearing and using products that are made right here in America. While it is true that some of the larger product brands are no longer made in the USA, wearing and using American made products shows that we support our country. Brands like Hershey, Zippo, American Apparel, Lucky Brand Jeans and New Balance are still made here in the United States.

Visit a Local Cemetery- Taking your family to visit a local cemetery is a great way to show respect to those who gave their lives for our freedom and our country. It is a simple gesture that doesn’t cost a dime but means so much.

Watch a Movie- Nothing gets people in the spirit of Independence Day like a good ole patriotic movie. There are some great movies you can watch with the family that capture the spirit of America. Here are some great movie ideas: Independence Day, The Patriot, Apollo 13, Top Gun and Forrest Gump.

Host a Patriotic Potluck- If you want to throw a 4^th of July party and you want something unique, try and red, white and blue potluck party. When sending out the party invitations, specify that the foods and dishes that are brought must be in red, white and clue colors. If your guests are having a tough time coming up with ideas, here are a couple that can be found on this blog.
