Not only that, knowing how to experiment and improvise a meal plan in order to stretch those food dollars is important in today’s economic times. At one time, many families had meat on the table at least five days out of the week. Nowadays, because of the tightness of the family budget, it is a rare occurrence to have a meal with a steak or a chop every night.
Many of us, find ways to stretch those food dollars by implementing more costly meat products with alternatives. These alternatives can be found in canned foods, in particular, meat and fish products. In this post, I will discuss the versatility of canned corned beef. Another alternative for this product is to fry it up and spoon it over cooked rice or pasta or even eaten with Naan or Roti as it is more commonly known as. Well tonight’s dinner was canned corned beef, that I usually prepare different ways, a couple of times a month.
Tonight, I did it with small potatoes, onions, tomato paste, tomato, garlic powder, pepper, and canned corned beef. Tossed everything into the pot and cooked it, then poured on top of the rice. Yummy!
