For those of you who drink lots of soda might want to invest in a SodaStream. If you are unfamiliar with what this is, it is a battery-less, non-electric home soda maker that can turn water into sparkling water or soda in a matter of seconds! When you use the SodaStream to make your own carbonated drinks, you save time, money, and the environment.
Time is saved as you do not have to run to the supermarket to get your favorite soda, with the SodaStream you can make all your favorites right from the comfort of your own home. No more lugging or wasting gas either. The great thing about the SodaStream soda machine is that not only can you make sparkling water, sodas, but carbonated fruit drinks as well.
The SodaStream also uses reusable carbonating bottles and a resusable CO2 carbonating bottle, thus cutting down on the amount of plastic bottles that are thrown in your recycle bin.
I received one of these SodaStream machines for the purpose of a review and the one that I was sent was the Jet Black/Silver Starter Kit that looks like this:
I also received several different syrups to test out. They were the natural black currant pear, the variety pack/my water, the CF Rootbeer, the Cranberry Raspberry, the Zero Cola, the Diet Lemon Lime, the diet pink grapefruit, the Cola Naturally Sweetened, and the Natural Ginger Ale.
For those of you who want to know how this machine works, it is rather simple. First off, you screw the CO2 canister (carbonator) into the top part of the unit. Then you fill the special bottle with water but only to the fill line and then attach it to the spigot. Pull the lever to inject (for lack of a better word) carbonation into the water and voila, you have sparkling water.
In order to get the flavor, all you have to do is add a cap of syrup (whichever flavor you choose) and you have soda pop. This is a great way to save on time and money by making your own soda at home, and you can even mix and match the flavors! And the plastic bottles are refillable!
Why not try a combination of Rootbeer Cola, Cherry Lime, or Gingerale Pink Grapefruit. The possibilities are endless! You can also try a concoction of chocolate syrup and marshmallow creme, or any other type of fruit juice for that matter!
Out of the syrups I received for this review post, I would have to say that the blackcurrant pear is my favorite. I prefer the taste of fruit juices over soda. However, the diet lemon lime is not that bad either. The kids are enjoying the machine as well. Of course, they have tried the CF Root Beer and the Naturally Sweet Cola.
I am sure going to love experimenting with syrup flavors and my SodaStream machine! If you are interested in learning more about the SodaStream machine, you can do so here.
