The Best Food Festivals of 2016

If you have never attended a food festival before, you are missing out on something awesome. Food festivals are annual events that showcase an array of foods, which you can sample and/or purchase. They often feature a specific cuisine type like Italian or French, others feature seasonal ingredients and dishes. Others may have a certain style of cooking like barbecue. Here are some of the best food festivals of 2016.

Taste of Chicago– Taste of Chicago took place from July 6, 2016 to July 10, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois. This is an annual event and is the largest in the world. It featured over 70 restaurants, along with over 10 music bands. The free-admission event,  has been held at Grant Park since 1981. When it was first held in 1980, there was 250,000 visitors in attendance. Some of the vendors in 2016 included Connie’s Pizza, Stan’s Donuts and Coffee, Chicago Lunchbox and Jack’s Fork in the Road.

Maine Lobster Festival– The Maine Lobster Festival took place from August 3, 2016 to August 7, 2016 in Rockland, Maine. The annual event began in 1947 and was known as the Camden-Rockport Lobster Festival. The festival sees around 30,000 visitors in attendance each year. This event held at Harbor Park, features fresh, local lobster as well as entertainment and cooking contests.

Boston Seafood Festival– The Boston Food Festival took place on August 7, 2016 in Boston, Massachusetts. The annual event, held at the historic Boston Fish Pier, is a rather newer food festival, having started in 2011. The event features seafood tastings and chef demonstrations. There are also contests at the festival including the Battle of the Shuckers and the Fish Cutting Contest. Visitors to the festival can enjoy sampling an array of seafood including mini lobster rolls from the Barking Crab, Oysters from the Matunuck Oyster Bar and fried calamari from Captain Marden’s Cod Squad.

Seattle Street Food Festival– The Seattle Street Food Festival took place on August 20, 2016 and August 21, 2016 in Seattle, Washington. The annual event features more than 75 food trucks and pop-up shops as well as more than 70 arts and crafts vendors. The Seattle Street Food Festival, held at South Lake Union, features food vendors like Express Mexican Grill, Hot Revolution Donuts, Seattle Chicken Over Rice, Caveman Eats and Friday Harbor House of Jerky. Also featured are local crafters including Steel Toe Studios, Red Umbrella Designs, Capitol Hill Candle Company and Love Letter Clothing.

A Taste of Colorado– A Taste of Colorado took place from September 2, 2016 to September 5, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. This annual event, held at the Downtown Denver’s Civic Center Park, sees an annual attendance around 500,000 visitors. The free-admission event showcases more than 50 food booths representing local establishments and over 275 marketplace artisans and vendors.

These are just some of the Best Food Festivals of 2016 that were held in the United States. Most of these are annual events and are a very nice location to book a family holiday. Try to visit at least one of them for a vacation. Great food, great music, fun and relaxation are some things that make a holiday more enjoyable.
