These Pumpkin Spice Caramel Apples is so delicious that neighborhood trick-or-treaters will ask you to make them year after year. This recipe includes pumpkin spice to give the caramel apple a seasonal flavor.
You can, of course, omit adding the spice to make plain caramel apples. No matter which version you choose to make, your Halloween guests will love them!
Ingredients:
5 large green pippin apples
1 bag caramels
¾ tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 container of sprinkles
1 bag of lollipop sticks
Baking spray
Wax paper
Cookie sheet
Double boiler
Directions:
Remove wax from apples by dipping them into a pot of boiling water quickly, then immediately remove them.
Wipe each apple dry and set aside to cool.
Then remove the stem from each apple and put a lollipop stick in the same place.
Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper and then spray the wax paper with a baking spray. Set aside.
Pour the sprinkles into a bowl. Set aside.
Put some water into the bottom of a double boiler. Toss the unwrapped caramels into the top part of the double boiler.
Turn the heat onto medium and stir the caramels as they begin to melt. Stir until almost melted.
Add in the pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon.
Continue to stir until everything is evenly mixed and the caramels are melted completely.
Dip each apple into the melted caramel. Make sure to dip deep enough to cover to the top of the apple.
Turn it around in your hand to remove access caramel.
Then roll each apple into the bowl of sprinkles.
Immediately place it on the cookie sheet covered with the wax paper.
Put your cookie sheet of caramel apples into the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to allow them to set.
