I recently received another product to review from Tropical Traditions and wanted to tell you all about it.
The other day, I received a large gallon plastic tub of Tropical Traditions Palm Shortening. Here is a picture of it;
Now to let you know a little information about the product. At one time this was was the most heavily consumed dietary oil in the world, however, most people in the US have switched to soybean oil.
In all other countries of the world, palm oil is the oil that is most widely used.
Palm shortening comes from palm oil and it has a high melting point which is great as it can simply be stored on the shelf in your pantry. It has no trans fats and is odorless and colorless.
This product is great for all types of deep frying and baking and is not prone to rancidity. Oils that contain trans fatty acids have been banned in Europe since 2004 and only recently have some cities in the US been banning the use of trans fats in restaurants.
As for the product itself, Tropical Traditions Organic Palm Oil is made in South America. The farmers that produce this palm shortening have to meet environmental criteria in regards to the land as well as on an operational level. The farmland that is used was previously used for bananas, cattle and rice.
There is great care in the processing and packaging of all of Tropical Traditions products from the farmland to your table.
As for the Organic Palm Shortening, I used a little bit of it when I was frying up the breakfast ham earlier this week farmland,biand there was no taste left on the food at all.
Another thing that I also used this for was for biscuits that I made to go along with tomorrow’s breakfast of bacon and eggs. They turned out wonderfully soft and fluffy.
Just got to remember to hide the large glass jar that I store the biscuit’s in.. cause you never know if the biscuits will last ‘til the morning! My night crawlers might just find them.
