Our Fur Baby- Playing Dress Up

I thought that I would share some pics of our beautiful fur baby that was a rescue kitty who I picked up from a caregiver so many moons ago. I got her about a week after our other fur baby passed away. Mind you, this beautiful kitty was a godsend, not a replacement for a much-loved kitty who passed away too soon, but to comfort and ease the grief of the passing of our former cat.

Our other kitty was also a rescue kitty. One of many kitties born to a feral mother cat who lived out her days in farm fields and, of course, the farmer’s barn. She was an orange marmalade kitty, who would have ended up like her mother if she would have survived. When we found her, we decided to bring her home to love and nurture.

She was just a little fistful as well. We thought that her age was approximately 8 weeks old, and she was so gentle, loving, and playful. We used to dress her up in crowns, hats, and even baby doll dresses. Oh, she was so loved and gave love in return.

I remember spending days trying to get her to eat, spoon-feeding her and making sure that she did not become dehydrated. But she did not get any better. However, she started eating and drinking again. We were all wishing and hoping… and then one fateful morning… I found her in the corner, under the front room bay window. She had crossed over the Rainbow Bridge sometime during the night.  In spite of the years that have passed and all of the love and comfort that our new fur baby provides, our hearts still feel the pain when we think of her.

If you are a pet owner, you know of the love and loss felt when they enter and exit our lives. Our new old fur baby is already 8 years old. I cannot believe it. My how time flies. And like her predecessor, she also loves to play dress up, even at her age. Here is a picture of her when she was a little younger, donning a crown that one of my kids made for her. She also permits you to dress her in costume and simply adores the new furry addition to our household, a baby guinea pig that we named Joey.

We consider our fur baby part of the family. Each one has its own personality and character traits. Enjoy the time that you have with them and always remember that a furry friend can pick you up when you are down, love you unconditionally, be there to listen to you, and do something that will make you smile. And all they expect from you is the necessities of life and to be loved.

Here are some pics of our newest old fur baby…..

This was a birthday present from one of my kids. She sketched our fur baby from a photograph and painted it in with markers.

We love our pets and I am sure that you do too! What type of pet do you have?
