Lost and Found Day
Dec 12th is Lost and Found Day. I guess we are supposed to remember what we have lost and celebrate what we have found. What I remember the most, as I am sure some of you can relate, is the lost and found box or bin in primary grade. It was full of things that kids leave behind in classrooms, bathrooms and hallways.
I think that temperature change had something to do with whether you took a look into the lost and found box. I remember the box looking rather barren when it was cold and snowy outside, at least barren of mittens, sweaters and other cold weather attire. Never really noticed it before, until I grew older and had my own children. Sometimes the lost and found box was filled to the brim and the janitors would have to bag it up to drop off at the local second hand store.
Other things we can reflect on Lost and Found Day is lost love and found love..,., How many of us have been there, done that?
Being lost and then found can evoke a wide range of emotions, now can’t it. I mean we are really ticked off at ourselves or some device if we happen to have lost money through carelessness or habit. And on the other side of the coin, overjoyed when we happen to find some money. Finding an amount of money on the roadside that will buy you more than a cup of java can put someone in a tizzy.
Like most parents, we all know how emotions can get riled up especially when it is time for the kiddo to head off to school and they are busy yelling, where’s my socks…. Guess the dryer got hungry again, %#*(# as you run around looking for a clean pair of socks. After they are out the door and you have a chance to venture into the forbidden zone, their room, you are ecstatic that the one lost sock is right where they dropped them.
Let’s share some lost and found stories to commemorate Lost and Found Day-Dec 12. What have you lost and found at least once in your lifetime? Feel free to leave a comment.
