Shea Butter- Shea butter has been used for treating cradle cap for many years. It is something that is easily absorbed into the scalp of your baby and won’t leave behind a greasy residue. Apply an amount of shea butter to the cradle cap area and let it set for 15 minutes. Then use a baby comb to get the flakes out and wash their hair with baby shampoo.
Mineral Oil- If you notice that the scales of the cradle cap aren’t loosening easy, try some mineral oil on their scalp. Apply the mineral oil to their scalp and allow to set for 5 minutes. Then, brush your baby’s hair and shampoo as normal. You don’t want to use olive oil since this produces too much oil on the scalp and can make cradle cap worse.
Coconut Oil- Coconut oil is very effective in treating cradle cap. Just apply a small amount of coconut oil to your baby’s scalp and let it set for 10 minutes. Then, to lift the flakes off of the scalp and wash their hair with a mild shampoo.use a baby comb
Baby Shampoo- Baby shampoo by itself is a great way to help with cradle cap. Baby shampoo is very mild so it helps to loosen the cradle cap flakes. Just wet your baby’s hair with warm water and apply a small amount of baby shampoo. Gently rub the shampoo into the scalp and rinse with warm water. Then, use a fine-toothed comb to lift the flakes from the scalp.
Cradle Cap Brush- Infants have skin that is extremely tender and sensitive. There are special cradle cap brushes on the market that are made for cradle cap. They are designed with soft bristles that help remove cradle cap flakes.
