How to Clean Your Home the Old Fashioned Way

You want to be sure you home is always neat and clean right? However, you don’t want to spend lots of money on supplies and you don’t want to use all those chemical-filled cleaning solutions that are on the market today. The good news is that you don’t have to. Our grandparents didn’t have the Magic Eraser or Swiffer back in the days. Here are some ways to clean your home the old fashioned way.

Use Vinegar for Countertops– You do not need chemical cleaners to get your counters clean and shiny. All you need is some vinegar. In fact, vinegar not only cleans your counters but disinfects them as well. Once a day, all you need to do is use undiluted vinegar and a clean rag. You can also use vinegar to clean other surfaces as well including stovetops.

Use Nature for Fresh Smelling Laundry– You probably have used or seen the laundry products that are on the market today that claim they will leave your clothes smelling like lavender or spring showers or cherry blossoms. The problem with these cleaners is that in order to get these aromas, some artificial chemicals are used. The only way to get your clothes smelling clean and fresh after washing is to hang them outside on a clothesline.

Make Your Own Pine-Scented Floor Cleaner– You can make your own floor cleaner with the scent of pine with just a handful of ingredients. The key ingredient here is washing soda. Washing soda is designed to cut through grease and remove stains. Mix together ½ cup of soap flakes, ¼ cup of washing soda, 1 cup of salt and 2 cups of water. Add this to a saucepan and heat on low until dissolved. Let the solution cool to room temperature and add in 3 teaspoons of pine essential oil. Mix together well. This can be stored in any jar and you only need to use 3 tablespoons of the cleaner in a bucket filled halfway with hot water.
