Homemade Sticky Chicken Recipe

This homemade sauce is one of my family favorites and makes a delicious sauce for both chicken and ribs. I prefer to use it on chicken most of the time but to each his own.

In order to make this sauce, I can seriously reflect on one of my previous posts, and follow through with that famous quote, “There are no other kinds, once you’ve tasted Heinz.” You DEFINITELY HAVE to use Heinz Ketchup when making this homemade sticky sauce.

First off, there are no exact measurements, everything is based on sight and taste to know whether or not, you have the sauce down pat. That might seem a little strange to you, but you will know what I mean when you read the recipe/instructions.

You can use either skinless, boneless chicken or even bone-in it depends on your personal preference. The amount of sauce that you will need will be dependent on the amount of chicken you have to cover. You can also use this sauce to place on top of ribs as well.

Sticky Chicken Sauce

1 medium onion, sliced and chopped
4 cloves garlic, cut into small pieces or put through garlic press
Heinz Ketchup – about 1 cup
Worchestershire Sauce – couple of shakes
Salt and Pepper- couple of shakes
Brown Sugar – about 1/4 cup

Method;

Mix the Heinz ketchup, brown sugar, Worchestershire sauce, salt and pepper and the crushed garlic into a bowl. Add the chopped onions and mix well. Then taste it! Seriously… this is what I do. You will have to have your sauce more ketchup colored, however, it should still have the brown sugar sweetness, but do not overdo it.

Pour the Homemade Sticky Sauce over chicken or ribs and bake in a covered baking dish until done. You will definitely need loads of napkins for this as it really sticks to your fingers and is quite delicious.

The above photo is not my own as I have not made these is a little while. However, mine look very similar. Photo credit from My Kitchen Treasures.

    Sounds interesting… I am not much a meat eater, but I will have to stash this for the once in a blue moon cravings I have for chicken! 🙂

    How did you know I was making ribs for dinner tomorrow! This sounds amazing, and I just won’t tell the hubs it has ketchup in it (he says he hates that stuff!)
