Today I made hamburger chow mein for dinner. It is a quick and easy meal that is nourishing and fills the hunger spot. I used a 2 lb. roll of lean ground mince which doesn’t really need to be drained that much as there is less fat in it than regular ground mince. You can incorporate any type of meat you choose in this recipe. Some choices can be ground turkey, chicken, mince, steak, stew beef, or others.
Here is what the hamburger chow mein dinner looked liked when finished. Feel free to try this recipe on your family. It might turn into one of their favorite meals.
Ingredients
2 packages no egg yolks noodles
1 2 lb roll of lean ground beef
oil
salt and pepper
1 package of frozen mixed vegetables
soya sauce
Method
Brown hamburger with onions, freshly chopped, mash the meat as it cooks. Drain off a little of the fat.
Put a pot of water on to boil, add a little oil to prevent the noodles from sticking.
Add noodles. Make sure that there is only enough water to cover the noodles. Cook for approximately 8 minutes then add about 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables.
Cook for another 4 minutes and then drain under hot water. With no yolk noodles it is better that they are drained with hot water.
Place the noodles back into pot. Add cooked hamburger and the vegetables.
Add only enough soya sauce to color the noodles. Add additional oil if needed.
Mix together until well blended.
Enjoy.
With this recipe, you can use up any fresh vegetables that you may have in the fridge. Simply chopped them very fine and either add them to the pot of noodles or cook separately in a pot and drain well, then add to the cooked, drained, noodles.
