Greening Your Life with Hydrogen Peroxide

Most of us are used to chlorine bleach as a cleaning and disinfecting agent in our home. But are you aware that there is a product on the market that does the same thing with less harm on the environment? The product that we are talking about is Hydrogen Peroxide. Greening your life with Hydrogen Peroxide is easy as it is plant and water based. When it is used in varying strengthens, it can clean and disinfect your home without any harmful effects.

There are many uses for Hydrogen Peroxide, in fact, it was a product that was used many years ago as a bleaching agent. However, over time, chlorine bleach became more prominent for many, thanks to clever marketing techniques.

Hydrogen Peroxide should be used at 3%. It can be found at your local pharmacy in these strengths. However, some people choose to buy it in full strength and dilute it themselves. If you choose to go this route, make sure that you use 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to 97 percent water.

This can be used in your laundry to whiten and brighten clothes, as a mouthwash, clean cutting boards, counter tops, to sterilize cuts, and to also clean lace curtains. It is also quite effective in removing bloodstains, and eliminating e-coli which can be found on fruits and vegetables.

Hydrogen Peroxide also is effective is eliminating root rot in plants. Dilute it and use it as a spray on your plants. It can also be used for cleaning grout and bathroom tiles.

There are also some therapeutic remedies that use hydrogen peroxide to aid in eliminating certain ailments. However, I personally would not even take the chance of trying them out or recommending them to you either.

But hydrogen peroxide can certainly be used to effectively aid you as a common household cleaner and disinfectant that leaves no harmful effects on the environment. So the next time you run out of chlorine bleach, try hydrogen peroxide as a safer, cleaner alternative and go green!
