Games Day is Dec. 20th. Games Day now that is an interesting one. How many of us remember Games Day at home? It was called Games night actually. I remember my dad getting out the cribbage board or checker board and us playing cribbage over a cup of tea and toast at the kitchen table. It was one of our rituals. 15-2, 15-4, 15-6… oh what fun!
I was a child then, and Dad used to come up with hands that scored 21 points. We also played Checkers and Chinese Checkers. Nowadays, board games are a rarity. More often than not, kids are into their gaming systems, which is good to a point, I mean they play these games by themselves or online facing another player. I guess it is good that they are meeting people and socializing by playing the game, but are they connecting with family.
People should put aside electronic gadgets and sit down and play a board game. Socially connecting with others in the family, having a few laughs and getting rid of the stress of the day can happen when you play together with family. It is good for the soul!
Are you doing anything for games day? If so, what game will you be playing?
