Essential Oils for Morning Sickness
Morning sickness is something that affects around half of all pregnant women during their first three months of pregnancy. Essential oils have been shown to be effective with helping with morning sickness symptoms like nausea and vomiting.
Peppermint- Peppermint essential oil is extremely effective for relieving nausea and vomiting associated with morning sickness. It has a scent that is fresh and minty that also helps to refresh you from feelings of fatigue. You can add 2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil to a tissue and inhale it to relieve symptoms or you can inhale it by adding a drop of the oil to steaming water.
Petitigrain- Petitigrain essential oil is one that is refreshing and uplifting at the same time. Also, it is an oil that is great for insomnia because of its relaxing properties. To use for morning sickness, add 3-4 drops to steaming water to use for inhaling. This essential oil is ideal for the digestive and nervous systems.
Ginger- Ginger essential oil is great for helping with morning sickness symptoms. The oil works even better when combined sweet orange essential oil to relieve nausea and vomiting. Ginger essential oil is warming so it gives you energy and promotes inner strength as well. Add 1-2 drops of ginger oil to a tissue to inhale or add 2-3 drops to steaming water to inhale. Another thing that works for nausea is to create a hot compress with 2 drops of ginger and 4 drops of lavender to hot water.
Mandarin- Mandarin essential oil is often used to help with morning sickness symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. In addition, it also helps to relieve gas. Mandarin essential oil combined with peppermint essential oil is extremely effective for morning sickness. Just add 2-3 drops of mandarin oil to steaming water and inhale.
Spearmint- Spearmint essential oil is somewhat similar to peppermint essential oil. It is great for helping with nausea and vomiting because of its sweet and warm minty scent. The aroma of spearmint is stimulating, cleansing and uplifting for the spirit as well. You can add 2-3 drops of spearmint essential oil to a tissue and inhale it to relieve symptoms or you can inhale it by adding a drop of the oil to steaming water.
