Clam Chowder Day
Feb 25th is Clam Chowder Day. I love seafood and clam chowder is my absolute favorite type of soup. The taste of clams, onions, and potatoes in a creamy broth is simply divine in my opinion. Those that live in coastal areas may find that it is more economical to make it at home as fresh seafood is in abundance. However for us inner city people, purchasing ready made is more economical.
Some restaurants served this type of soup on Fridays to those that abstained from meat. Although the creamy one is the most common type, there are other variations. Tomato-based broths are made in some regions.
