In order to cut some of your food bills, many people are looking for ways to stretch those food dollars. One of the simplest ways to help stretch those dollars is to make meals ahead and freeze them as well as prepare plenty of casserole dishes.
Casserole dishes are fairly easy to prepare and contain a wide variety of important nutrients that are needed on a daily basis. There are many budget friendly free recipes that can be found online.
One of my favorites are recipes using Tater Tots, which are little frozen, rounded hash brown potatoes. These taters can be placed on top of mince, chopped turkey, ham, tuna, tofu, or any other type of protein.
The meat or protein item is placed in a casserole dish, topped with a can of creamed soup, frozen or fresh vegetables. Then the Tater Tots are placed on top. Bake at 400 for an hour. If you want to add grated cheese during the last 15 minutes, go ahead.
