Getting traffic to a new blog or bringing new traffic to an old blog can be difficult. I have put together some great tips to bring new traffic from new and old followers, and to keep them there. One important thing to remember through all of this is be true to yourself, and be honest with your readers.
Submit your site to Search Engines. You need your posts to come up in search results and this is the way to make it happen. Most search engines have a link in which you submit your website. This will not guarantee that you will make front page results {a lot of things can determine that}, but at least you will show up.
Interaction. Readers want to feel like they belong and they are part of a community. Interact with your readers on social networks. Twitter is a good one to use for great interaction because of re-tweets and hash tags. Make sure to use hash tags that relate to your post topic.
Videos/Pictures. Videos bring people. I cannot tell you why, but I do know people like them. Maybe, it’s because the like to see an actual person and they find a way to relate with you and what you have to offer. Pictures, like videos, catch attention. Also, when using pictures make sure you link your pictures somewhere.
SEO. I cannot stress SEO (search engine optimization) enough. Make sure you are optimizing all posts, pages, categories and pictures. Use Google’s keyword tool to research keywords that are relevant to your site and utilize them. SEO will bring you more traffic and will push you up in the rankings on search engines.
Learn your audience. Study what they like and what they don’t like and give them more of what they want. You can use bit.ly or another link tracker to see what is bringing people to your site, what gets the most clicks and use that information to help you decide what is really working and interesting to your blog traffic.
