Read on for the best times of year to visit Walt Disney World with the kids and then get planning the vacation of your dreams.
Winter Break Season
January and February happen to be the slowest times of year at Walt Disney World, temperatures are tolerable, the rainy season is over and there are no big themed events. Most schools have a winter break of sorts, and many of them run into the weekend, so a four day break can easily be stretched into six. If you are willing to spend the holidays with just your kids, the first couple days of January are also ideal before the kids have to be back in school.
September
With the start of the school year ranging from anywhere between the first of August and mid September, most families try to get their family vacations in before September. This means that Disney World has shorter lines and there are more package deals to be found in September. If the kids have a late start, get a trip in before they have to go back for an extended summer.
May
Post spring break and Easter Holiday break, May is a great time to get the kids to Disney World– but it may require missing out on a couple days of school, or squeezing in a short trip that takes advantage of the weekend and a day off. It feels like summer in Orlando in May, and even though there are bigger crowds, the park’s busy feel is everything you can expect from the Mouse.
October
October is a very busy time of year for Disney World, especially during the weekend, but it is a fantastic time to visit the park with kids. The Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is so much fun, and one of the highest rated events that Disney organizes. The entire park is done up for the party and children are free to dress as their favorite characters, or any costume.
Late November to Early December
If you want to visit the park with the kids for the holidays, but can’t actually do a trip during their holiday vacation time, late November to early December is a great time. Christmas decorations will already be up, and you might even be able to get tickets to a Very Merry Christmas Party, depending on when you go. Kids will fall in love with all the lights and extra magical atmosphere that transforms Disney World.
