The Notebook- Based on the book by Nicholas Sparks

Year: 2004

Stars: Ryan Gosling as Noah and Rachel McAdams as Allie

Synopsis: The narrator is Noah when he is an older man. He is telling the story to a woman at his nursing home and is reading the story from his notebook. Noah and Allie met at a local carnival but are forced apart by Allie’s parents, who force the entire family to move away. Noah and Allie are from two different social/economic classes. Allie moves on and later marries but runs into Noah one day years later. It is evident their feeling for each other never went away.

When Harry Met Sally

Year: 1989

Stars: Billy Crystal as Harry and Meg Ryan as Sally

Synopsis: Harry and Sally share an 18-hour cab ride from Chicago to New York. Over the next decade, they run into each other now and then and soon develop a close friendship. They share every little intimate detail about their lives to each other and soon realize they have feelings for each other. The question is “Can they still remain friends after they sleep together?”

Casablanca

Stars: Humphrey Bogart as Rick and Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa

Synopsis: The movie takes place during World War II and focuses around the life of Rick Blaine. Rick is a former freedom fighter and owns the town’s most popular nightclub. Rick is entrusted with a couple of letters of transit by his right hand man, Ugarte. However, Ugarte is jailed for killing two German couriers and stealing the letters. Suddenly, a resistance leader from Czechoslovakia arrives in Casablanca with his wife in tow. It turns out that wife is one of Rick’s former lovers, Ilsa. Things don’t exactly go as planned for anyone involved.

Year: 2002

Stars: Shane West as Landon and Mandy Moore as Jamie

Synopsis: This movie is set in a coastal town in North Carolina. When Landon and his friends play a prank on a boy at school, he is forced to do community service by taking part in the spring play at school. The problem is that Landon has never acted so he seeks out help from Jamie, the daughter of a minister. Jamie is nothing like Landon as she is quiet and keeps to herself. While Jamie is helping him with his lines, Landon is quickly falling in love with her. When a devastating secret comes between them, can they save their relationship?
