Newman’s Own Organics – A Review

Share

Received a very large box or organic products the other day from Newman’s Own Organics for a product review. Now, I must say that the box was filled to the brim with all sorts of organic, gluten-free products for me and my family to try.

3 packages of various types of pretzels, a box of Pop’s Corn, 2 family recipe cookies, pouch of raisins, 2 alphabet cookies, 4 packages of various mints, 2 peanut butter cups, 2 caramel cups, 8 packages of various types of licorice, and four chocolate bars.

Newman’s Own Organics has ten different kinds of pretzels that will suit pretzel lover’s everywhere! I received the Spelts, Salted Sticks, and Salted Rods.

The Salted Rods and Sticks contain organic unbleached wheat flour, organic rye flour, organic brown rice syrup, organic sunflower oil, organic barley malt, yeast, salt, sodium bicarbonate. And the Spelts contain organic spelt flour, suspelt flour, organic sunflower oil, salt, yeast, and soda.

Newman’s Own Organics pretzel snacks are baked and not fried, and contain only 1 to 1.5 grams of fat.

Pretzels can be used in a variety of ways, crushed and used as a filler for breadcrumbs, dipped into chocolate, eaten plain, or even used in dips.

Both types were delicious, the Spelts, however, had a slightly nutty flavor.

The Pop’s corm was light butter and delicious. The box contained 3 packages of Pop’s Corn that consisted of organic corn and organic palm oil. No trans fat at all. Great snack by itself or you can add your own seasonings.

Newman’s Own Organics family cookies are made with various ingredients. I received the Ginger Snaps and the Orange Chocolate Chips.

The Orange Chocolate Chips contain Organic Unbleached Wheat Flour, Organic Sugar, Chocolate Chips (Unsweetened Chocolate, Sugar, Dextrose, Soy Lecithin [an emulsifier], Vanilla), Organic Palm Fruit Oil, Egg Whites, Oats, Organic Orange Oil, Salt, Sodium Bicarbonate (leavening).. and which I found pleasantly tasting.

The Ginger Snaps contain Organic Unbleached Wheat Flour, Organic Sugar, Molasses, Organic Palm Fruit Oil, Candied Ginger (Ginger, Sugar), Ground Ginger, Salt, Leavening (Sodium Bicarbonate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Soy Lecithin, Spice in which I was not overly fond of as I do not really like ginger, so they will go well with a glass of milk to the other cookie monsters in the house.

Mmmmmmmmm raisins, and Newman’s Own Organics raisins, I might add. I simply love raisins! Great for a snack without no added sugar. These were eaten gradually usually by themselves, but I occasionally put them on top of some granola for breakfast. Yummy!

From Newman’s Own Organics, I received the Chocolate and Vanilla Alphabet cookies. The Vanilla Alphabet cookies contain Organic Unbleached Flour, Organic Sugar, Palm Fruit Oil, Arrowroot Flour, Honey, Leavening (Sodium Bicarbonate, Moncalcium Phosphate), Salt, Natural Flavor and were also known as their Arrowroot line.

The Chocolate ones contain Organic Unbleached Flour, Organic Sugar, Palm Fruit Oil, Arrowroot Flour, Honey, Leavening (Sodium Bicarbonate, Moncalcium Phosphate), Salt, Natural Flavor.

These cookies are nice and small and are a hit for little ones as they will surely be having fun spelling out words while they are having their milk and cookies.

My Newman’s Own Organics box also contained various bags of mint rolls. I received the Peppermint, the Wintergreen Mints, Ginger Mints, and the Cinnamon ones. They are made with organic sugar, natural flavors, gum arabic and organic corn syrup. With no added fat, protein or sodium.

My favorites are the Peppermint and Wintergreen. The Cinnamon and Ginger Mints will be enjoyed by other members of my family as these are flavors that just do not go over well with me. Mind you, it is not the brand at all as I just do not like these flavors in anything.

Mmmm chocolate cups, and organic chocolate cups to boot! We all remember these wonderful, chocolately treats! Newman’s Own Organics pays above fair market price for their Certified Organic Cocoa Beans that is tied to the Fair Trade market price of these Cocoa Beans.

The USDA Organic Seal of approval on these products assure that at least 95% of the ingredients are organically certified.

The Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal of approval guarantees that the cocoa used in their Signature Series was grown on farms that meet comprehensive standards for sustainable farming, protecting soil, waterways and wildlife habitat as well as the rights and welfare of workers, their families and communities.

I received all the flavors of the chocolate cups that are made by Newman’s Own Organics. Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate Peppermint, Milk Chocolate Caramel and Dark Chocolate Caramel Cups and will have to say that the Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate Caramel are my two favorites.

The others in the family will enjoy the Dark Chocolate treats.

These sour licorices will be eaten by hubby while he is at work. I do not like sour stuff. However, those of you that do, the Newman’s Own Organics Sour Licorice line comes in four flavors, and they are; Sour Mango, Sour Apple, Sour Cherry, and Sour Strawberry.

The Newman’s Own Organics line of other types of organic licorice comes in the flavors of Black, Pomegranate and Strawberry.

I love the Strawberry one, hubs and kids are fine with the Black licorice and the Pomegranate one. These all are completely organic and contain natural flavors, oils, natural fruit juice concentrates and various natural extracts.

And last, but certainly not least is the Newman’s Own Organics Signature Chocolate. These come in these amazing flavors!

* Dark Chocolate
* Super Dark Chocolate 70% Cocoa – NEW!
* Mocha Milk Chocolate – NEW!
* Milk Chocolate
* Espresso Dark Chocolate
* Orange Dark Chocolate

My favorites from these signature chocolate bars were the Milk Chocolate and the Mocha Milk Chocolate. I am not that fond of dark chocolate. So, again, these will be something that the other members of my family will enjoy.

Overall, I personally enjoyed most of the items that I received from Newman’s Own Organics for this product review, other than what was mentioned above because of personal taste.

*Disclaimer*- I received the above mentioned Newman’s Own Organics products for the purpose of a product review. I was under no obligation to write a positive review and all the opinions expressed above are entirely my own.
