Z for Zevia – The Zero Calorie Soda Review and Giveaway

Share

Are you concerned about the amount of sugar in your diet? Have you stopped or reduced the amount of soda that you purchase for your family at the supermarket because of the health risks? Do you want to drink soda but are afraid to because of the amount of calories they contain? Well, then I want to introduce you to a new soda on the market, Zevia. Zevia is the Zero Calorie Soda and so much more.

In fact, like most people when I was younger I used to drink soda like it was going out of style. Mind you, there were only three flavors/brands I drank, and will not be mentioning their names in this blog post. However, I stopped drinking soda almost entirely many years ago because of the amount of sugar as well as the residue it tends to leave in your mouth. I was hooked on the dark soda, and not the brand that is very well known as a toilet cleaner, but the other one. I used to drink a liter a day, but as mentioned that stopped many years ago. I, very rarely, I might add, drink soda at all, maybe once a year.

My kids are quite different however, two of them like soda and one of them did not drink it at all until she was well in her teens. And when she does it is very rare. She only likes one flavor and tends to like juices, water, and other types of drinks to quench her thirst.

Being concerned about the amount of sugar in carbonated drinks, I heard about this new soda called Zevia and wanted to check to see if this would be a soda that my family would like. So I pitched them and was happy to hear that they were going to send me samples of their products for me and my family to try.

Well, the Zevia products arrived the other day and I received 3 cans of these flavors for the purpose of a product review. Zevia actually manufactures 15 different flavors of soda. The flavors of the Zevia Soda that I received were: Cola, Grape, Ginger Root Beer, Orange, Black Cherry, Lemon Lime Twist, Ginger Ale, and Cream Soda.

Here is a picture of just some of the Zevia soda flavors:

The Zevia Cola contains citrus, spice, no artificial sweeteners, no sugar and zero calories. It does, however, contain sodium and caffeine, so make sure you check the amounts before you purchase this. As for the taste, it does leave a little aftertaste, which is common for sodas, however, it is not as prominent as other cola brands on the market. The aftertaste is the natural sweetener, Stevia, and not that metallic aftertaste you usually get from other diet drinks.

The Lemon Lime Twist is clear, clean and goes down smooth with little aftertaste. I enjoyed taste testing this one and will definitely try it again. The Black Cherry is definitely my favorite of the bunch. The others in the family do not mind drinking the other flavors, especially the Ginger Root Beer, Orange and Cream Soda.

All in all, if you are diabetic, concerned about the amount of sugar in your diet, are watching your calorie intake, and are looking for a natural alternative to soda pop, then I would recommend that you try Zevia. It is a soda brand that is sweetened with Stevia, a green plant from the sunflower family that does not have an effect on your blood sugar levels.

Most of Zevia’s sodas do not contain caffeine. It is a given that most of the dark sodas do, so make sure you check out the percentage of caffeine in the different flavors before you choose to purchase them.

However, Zevia, unlike other well known soda brands, do not contain calories, or artificial sweeteners, but use Stevia as a natural sweetener instead.

Zevia ingredients are also non-GMO, certified Kosher, gluten-free, and contain no MSG. Why not try some out yourself and see why everyone is talking about Zevia- The Zero Calorie Soda?

*Disclaimer*- I received the above mentioned products from Zevia for the purpose of a review. I was under no obligation to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
