The Bar Harbor company is located in Maine, where they have been manufacturing fine seafood since 2003. The owner purchased the company in 2003, from an 86 year old premium specialty seafood manufacturer, the East Machias Canning Company. The company is located in Downeast Maine on a scenic wharf in a sheltered cove. Bar Harbor Foods are tantalizing the taste buds of canned seafood lovers everywhere!

The specialty seafood are made in small batches and packed and canned by hand. It is a time old tradition that continues to this very day!

Bar Harbor Seafood makes authentic chowders, downeast bisques, sauces, stock, fancy seafood meats, clam juice, premium wild caught fish, old-fashioned beans as well as Indian pudding.

Bar Harbor sent me 5 items for the purpose of a product review and they were a 284 ml can of Crab Bisque, a 284 ml of Lobster Bisque, a 398 can of Fish Chowder, 398 can of Clam Chowder and a 240 ml bottle of all natural Clam Juice.

The Lobster Bisque contains: Lobster Meat, Milk, Canola Oil, Wheat Flour, Native Tapioca Starch, Sherry, Evap. Cane Juice and Spice Blend.

The Crab Bisque contains:Milk, Finely Ground Crabmeat, Minced Lobstermeat, Canola Oil, Wheat Flour, Tapioca Starch, Sherry, Evap. Cane Juice, Salt, Pepper and Spice Blend.

Bar Harbor‘s Fish Chowder contains: MSC Alaskan Pollock, Potatoes, Water, Unbromated Wheat Flour, Butter, Native Tapioca Starch, Onions, Salt, Pepper & Spice Blend.

Their Clam Chowder contains: Fresh Clams, Potatoes, Water, Wheat Flour, Butter, Tapioca Starch, Onions, Salt & Spices.

And their all natural clam juice contains: Bouillon of Clam, Salt.

As for the taste test of these products, I have to be honest and say that my least favorite was the clam juice, not that it tasted bad or anything like that, I will use it as stock for meal preparation rather than drinking it as a juice. It was a hard choice between choosing what were my favorites from the others that I received to do a product review of. Each one of the bisque’s and chowders were simply divine!

Each one of these contained all natural seafood that was hand picked and packaged, just like it has been for generations. There is no preservatives, no MSG and each product is made in small batches to help ensure the freshness, and uphold the high standard of excellence that Bar Harbor Foods is known for all over the USA.
