These DIY Essential Oil Oatmeal Anti-Itch Flea/Tick Repellent Dog Soap Bars are easy to make and last long. They provide flea/tick relief for your pet. The dog soap bars are enriched with shea butter, oatmeal, and essential oils which help to keep their coats in top condition.
DIY Essential Oil Oatmeal Anti-Itch Flea/Tick Repellent Dog Soap Bars
Ingredients
1-pound goats milk soap
2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons shea butter
1/4 cup crushed oatmeal
15-20 drops sandalwood essential oil
10-15 drops lemongrass essential oil
10-15 drops lavender essential oil
10-15 drops chamomile essential oil
Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
Silicone mold- doggie paw mold
Instructions
Steps 1-3: In a microwave safe bowl, melt soap base in microwave in 30 second intervals until completely melted. Repeat with the Shea butter and coconut oil and then add it to the bowl with the soap base.
Step 4: Add in the lemongrass essential oil. This essential oil has been shown to repel fleas and ticks on dogs while being completely safe to use on them. It also has skin healing properties.
Step 5: Add in the sandalwood essential oil. This oil has not only been shown to repel fleas and ticks, it can also keep their skin healthy and helps to relax them.
Step 6: Add in the lavender essential oil. Not only does this oil have great calming effects, it can also calm irritated skin. My dog gets dry skin in the summer and scratches a good bit. Lavender oil helps .to relieve that.
Step 7: Add in the chamomile essential oil. I used this oil because it can calm irritated skin, acts as an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. It helps with hot spots on your dog’s skin too.
Steps 8-9: Add in the oatmeal and mix everything together. I used oatmeal because it is great for soothing any skin irritations and itchy skin your dog may have.
Step 10: Sprinkle a bit of the oatmeal into the mold and then fill mold evenly with mixture.
Step 11: Spray with rubbing alcohol.
Step 12: Allow to harden for at least two hours.
I recommend storing the DIY Essential Oil Oatmeal Anti-Itch Flea/Tick Repellent Dog Soap Bars in a plastic bag or a container with a lid. You can also use the essential oils in a spray in between washings. Add 10 drops of each in a bottle and fill with distilled water. Spray on your dogs coat and gently rub it in.
