Raincoast Trading Review and Giveaway

Raincoast Trading is a sustainable seafood company that is located in Delta, BC, Canada. It has been in been in operation since 1978, when Mike Wick decided to follow family tradition and embrace their passion for the bounty found in the sea. He comes from a family of fisherman who have made their living from the sea for four generations.

Consumers are offered sustainably, harvested gourmet canned seafood and me, being a lover of seafood approached them with the idea of a product review. I was thrilled when they said Yes!

Setting High Standards in the Fishing Industry

Raincoast Trading uses the highest standards when catching and processing their seafood. It is single cooked and packed in fish oils, thus, providing their consumers with canned seafood that is dense and rich in flavor. They have been endorsed by the Ocean Wise conservation program and are quite proud of the fact that they are the first Canadian packaged retail seafood company to achieve this honor. They have a right to be proud! Kudos to Raincoast Trading!

They support efforts to minimize overfishing, habitat damage, bycatch, as well as any other problems associated with farmed salmon. They have developed a system to recognize the origin of the capture of the fish, the vessel, captain, name, harvest method and trip date. From ocean to can, Raincoast Trading knows about the fish they are marketing.

Of course, this information is vitally important to Ocean Conservation groups and benefits both fisherman and fish!

Overfishing has been on the rise, since global consumption of seafood has doubled since the 1970’s. Raincoast Trading addresses these key issues and more.

All of Raincoast Trading seafood products are wild, meaning that they are caught naturally out on the ocean and not farmed or harvested in nets.

Their seafood products include; wild red sockeye salmon, wild pink salmon, wild albacore tuna and wild pacific sardines.

I received some of Raincoast Trading wild seafood products for the purpose of a review. Here is a picture of the items I received.

I had some of the wild red sockeye salmon from Raincoast Trading this afternoon and it tastes fantastic! I am sure that I will love the wild pink salmon almost as much. The kids tend to like tuna the odd time, in sandwiches and tuna casseroles, so the tuna will be for them. Unless, of course, I make tuna/salmon patties with bread crumbs, mayonnaise, grated carrots and the canned seafood.

Those of you who happen to like canned seafood, try out Raincoast Trading wild seafood products, I know that I enjoyed the ones that I tried so far and perhaps you will as well.

Now one of my blog readers can enter to win a case of Wild Albacore Tuna from Raincoast Trading but you have to enter via the Rafflecopter form below in order to win it. Open to US and Canada. Good Luck!
