Kitty Cat Treats

Share

Kitty cats are carnivores and eat only meat and fish. Our kitty loves both wet and dry food. It is important to give both types of food on a daily basis to your cat. People that tend to give them only wet food will notice that their stool is rather wet, and smelly. However, giving a cat only dry food, can sometimes cause crystals to form in their stomach, which can lead to a lot of digestive problems.

At our house, we give our cat fresh dry food and water daily, and a couple of spoonfuls of wet food at the side of her bowl. Occasionally we also add a half a tsp. of liquid fish oil to her food. This helps to keep her coat shiny.

As for kitty treats, these are also relatively easy to make and use some of the staple foods we generally have on hand. Here is a recipe for you to use if you would like to make kitty a homemade treat!

Fish Cookies

1/2 can tuna fish, or any other canned fish that is packed in oil
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 cup all purpose flour

Mix all ingredients and roll out to half an inch thick. Cut into strips and bake on a greased sheet for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool and break into pieces. These healthy treats will also help keep their gums healthy and clean their teeth as well.

The next time you are baking, why not bake up some of these treats for your kitty? I am sure they will love them!

Ohh, I’d like to try making these. What type of milk have you used when making them? We usually only have 1% milk in the house and I was wondering if that may effect the recipe.
