Human or Is It- Human Rights Day

Share

Dec 10 is Human Rights Day all over the world. This day was sent aside for this event which, IMO, should be addressed every day of the year and not just for today. Human Rights Day was proclaimed way back in 1950, when the UN General Assembly made the announcement. These Human Rights protocols were to be put in place not for one nation/one peoples but for people of all nationalities and countries.

This blog post title “Human or Is It” was not to poke fun at the UN General Assembly’s effort to make the world a better place to live in and for trying to save what is left of mankind, but rather to make everyone aware that it is only one planet we have, and no matter ones station in life we all bleed the same.

Human tragedies, strife and injustice happens every second in some corner of the world. Last year was the 20th anniversary of Human Rights Day.

Human Rights Day

Is it human for others to stand aside and watch another human being suffering at the hands of another. Some crimes against humanity include but are not limited to = genocide, slavery, enforced sterilization, rape, torture or medical experimentation.

Conflicts between one human being to another as well as a country or state pitting themselves against another cause an incredible amount of pain, suffering and devastation. These types of conflicts are known as war crimes and are committed by civilians, military or government.

Women tend to suffer more than their male counterparts during conflict. Sometimes they suffer sexual abuse, torture, and social oppression. Human intervention occurs in some instances, but many people question the act and often disagree about the way it was handled.

Human Rights violations can only be truly dissolved when people in the public and private sectors look at the root of the problem and take measures to provide alternative solutions.

Think about it for a moment. WE ARE BORN. WE LIVE. WE DIE.

No matter our color or wealth, we all BLEED THE SAME.

Are you doing anything significant to commemorate Human Rights Day?
