Household Cleaning Hacks

Grill Cleaning

To clean stuck on food from the grill cut an onion in half and using a fork rub it onto the grill. Be sure to turn the grill on before doing this so that it’s hot when the onion touches it. The sizzling is what helps clean it. This will clean off anything stuck on as well as give it a good seasoning for the next time you cook on it.

Lamp Shades

Those dusty lamp shades can seem impossible to clean with cloths and cleaners. Instead try using a lint roller. It’ll take the dust and hair off of it with no cleaners needed.

Dishwasher Cleaning

Dishwasher’s clean dishes with ease, but the dishwasher itself should also be cleaned sometimes. Place a cup of white vinegar on the top shelf and run it on its hottest cycle. Then sprinkle baking soda on the bottom and run it again on a short hot cycle. When it’s done it should smell and look cleaner than ever.

Toilet Cleaner

To clean and prevent the toilet from becoming so dirty and grimy so quick, place a mason jar of vinegar with holes in the top (of the cover of the jar) in your toilet tank. Every time you flush some of the vinegar will go into the toilet keeping it clean. Be sure to check when it needs replacing. (Once a week or so the jar should be refilled again.)

Sneaker Whitening

The best way to whiten your sneaker rubber, especially Converse, is to use toothpaste and a toothbrush. Scrub the areas, and wipe them clean. The rubber will come out as white as it was when you bought them!

Clean Makeup Brushes

Those makeup brushes can acquire quite the buildup of powder when used frequently. For the best results from your brushes be sure to clean them often. Wet them down, and lather them in baby shampoo. Once soapy enough then rinse them gently and let them dry with the brushes down so that no water gets into the handle creating mold. This is a safe way to spruce up those old bushes.

Bread -Glass Pickup

Use a piece of white bread to go over areas where glass has broken and spilled. Pick up large shards with your hand and the tiny shards can be picked up by the bread. Toss the bread out and always be sure to give the area a good vacuuming just in case.

Dishwasher-Bag

For those items that always make it to the bottom of the dishwasher during the cycle, use a small garment laundry bag. The items will still get clean, and won’t end up at the bottom any more.

Grease Stain- Chalk

To remove grease stains from walls, clothing, and other items, rub the area with chalk, give it a good coating. Wait a few minutes and then wipe the area off. The chalk should pick up the grease and remove the stain. This may not work for stains that have been set in for a long time.
