Healthy Shopper Fall Picks 2012 Helps You Make Alternative Choices

Share

When it comes to buying groceries not all of us make healthy choices. Now there a book out on the market that will help you to make alternative choices when it comes to junk food. It is from the creators of Natural Savvy and is called, “Unjunk Your Junk Food” and is filled to the brim with information about alternative snacks that are healthier for you then their counterparts. It explains in detail what to avoid and what harmful additives to avoid. This book was included in a box sent to me for a product review from Healthy Shopper.

Other products that were found in the box of the Healthy Shopper Fall Picks 2012 included; San J sauces, Natracare, Simply Natural, and Ecover. I also got a coupon book and a Healthy Shopper Tote bag as well.

San J sauces are gluten-free Asian inspired sauces that can be used as condiments, marinades, in soups, salad dressings, or even to top crackers.

The Natracare product line is high-quality feminine hygiene products that are chlorine-free, plastic free, organically certified, and biodegradable. The products are made from 100% cotton and has received the highest ethical score over other well-known name brands of feminine hygiene products.

Simply Natural offers consumers organic pasta sauces, salsa, salad dressings, ketchup and mustards.

Those of you who are looking for natural cleaning solutions for your home can choose products under the Ecover brand. This Belgium based manufacturer makes eco-friendly cleaning products that are mineral and plant-based and are sold both domestically and around the world. They offer natural products for personal care, cleaning, as well as detergents.

I received four San J sauces as part of the Healthy Shopper Picks for Fall 2012. They were the San J Gluten Free Orange Sauce, the San J Tamari Peanut Asian Dressing, the San J Gluten-Free Tamari Soy Sauce, and the San J Gluten-Free Teriyaki Sauce. The San J Orange Sauce tastes delicious on top of chicken or ribs. I, actually used it to add some flavor to a dish that I made that consisted of plain rice and salmon. It has a delicate, spiced orange flavor that added some zip to the plain rice. The Teriyaki Sauce can be used as a marinade for meats and fish, or added to fried rice. I am definitely going to use the Teriyaki Sauce as a marinade when I do make those salmon fillets. The San J Tamari Peanut Sauce adds its own unique flavor to coleslaw and salads. Their Tamari Soy Sauce is a rich tasting food enhancer that is milder in flavor than regular soy sauce. It is definitely a healthier alternative to some of the other brands that contain a lot of sodium.

As for the Natra products I received, one is a package of feminine hygiene products and the other is feminine hygiene wipes. They are both natural organic products. In fact, all of their products are organic and their packaging is completely compostable. The hygiene wipes contain no bleach and are totally flushable.

I really love the Healthy Shoppers Fall Picks 2012 choices in salad dressings from Simply Natural. I received the Creamy Caesar, (my fav), Honey Mustard, Balsamic Vinaigarette, Italian with Roasted Peppers and Goddess (my second fav). These dressings are USDA organic and QAI, which means that their quality is assured internationally. The taste of the ones I tried so far are superb. They are not thin and watery either but full of flavor and body.

The last set of goodies in the box were Ecover home products. There was a box of Zero Natural Laundry Powder, a Pomegranate and Lime Dish Detergent, which smells amazing, I might add, and also a Bay Breeze Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner. All of Ecover products are made with the earth in mind. They are phosphate-free, not tested on animals, are biodegradable, and are suitable for septic tanks as well. The bottles that these products come in are also natural. They are made from sugarcane and are recyclable and renewable as well.

As for the Healthy Shopper, it was founded by Randy Boyer and Andrea Donsky in 1999. Since then, they have been encouraging others to help to reduce the carbon footprint on our planet by choosing high quality natural, organic products that are renewable, sustainable and recyclable. The Healthy Shopper also enables consumers to purchase these items at an affordable cost.
