Fruitcake Toss Day is Jan 3rd. During this time many people toss out their uneaten cake.In many homes, this type of cake is served during the Christmas season. Most of the time it is store-bought. I, in fact have some that I have not opened as yet.
It is made up of dried fruits, spices, nuts, flour and a few other ingredients. Some people like to add alcohol to their dried fruit a couple of months before making the cake. I, at one time used to make homemade fruitcake without alcohol. The cost of dried fruit has gotten rather expensive to make the cake as only a couple of people in our family like it.
