Five Ways You Can Save on Summer Vacation

Save Money

Summer vacation is something that virtually every family looks forward to but it can also be rather stressful. Money is tight with the economy being fairly terrible and summer vacations can be expensive. That said, finding ways to save money on summer vacation can be a life saver. Here are five ways to save some dough that any family can implement:

Eat from the Grocery Store

Going out to eat is usually the biggest expense for most families and eating food from the grocery store can slash that bill. Instead of grabbing that fast food burger, grab a bag of celery and some peanut butter. Your wallet and your waist size will thank you for it.

Drive Instead of Flying

Although this does not always come out cheaper, it does the majority of the time. This is especially true if you plan on using cabs once you get there. Consider the old fashioned road trip and enjoy the time with your family.

Stay in a Cheaper Hotel

Sure it is nice to stay in those fancy hotels with room service, but you will pay out the nose for it. Instead, stay in a nice, mid-level hotel and bring your own service. Do you really need heated towels and champagne?

Consider Camping

Few things bring a family together like staying in a campground. If you are going somewhere that the weather is good and you have a tent, consider saving some bucks that way. Nothing is more enjoyable than roughing it with the family.

Travel in a Group for Cheaper Rates

Most everywhere you go is cheaper if you come as a group. Consider linking up with some close friends or family to share the trip. If you do, you will find that everything from eating to hotels are cheaper when you book them as a group.

These are five easy ways to save money. The key is to be flexible and be willing to try new and exciting things. If you are open-minded, then you will quickly find yourself saving money on your summer vacation.
