Eco-Friendly Toothpaste

Did you know that you can be frugal when it comes to toothpaste? Many of us go through several tubes of toothpaste in a year and not only does this add to our landfills, but can actually have some side effects on our health as well! Recent studies show some of the chemicals that are found within can contain an engine degreaser, mica, as well as a pesticide.

Those of you who want to eliminate some of the expense of buying this product and still have a great set of pearly whites can simply make a homemade tooth cleaner with ingredients that are normally found within your home, or can be purchased at the local grocery store.

Homemade Toothpaste Recipe

1/4 c baking soda
1 tsp coarse salt (mineral)
5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil

Those that are prone to gingivitis can simply add peppermint, cinnamon, tea tree oil, or spearmint. Simply wet your toothbrush with water and dip it in the mix.
