The 4th of July is all about celebrating our independence. Barbecues and firework shows are fun but this year I wanted to do something outside of the norm with my family for the 4th of July activities. I was determined to come up with a unique and meaningful way to celebrate the 4th this year. I hope some of the ideas on this list will inspire you as well.
Visit a Monument or Museum
Taking a trip to a meaningful monument or museum is a fun activity for the 4th of July. Check with your local Chamber of Commerce to see if any museums or monuments will be doing something special for the 4th.
If your budget allows for it, you could take a family road trip visiting different monuments along the way. This could end up being a wonderful educational opportunity for children.
Revolutionary War Reenactment
Some areas offer the chance to step back into time but participating in a Revolutionary War Reenactment is just one of the many 4th of July activities that you can participate in. Even if you don’t want to join in on the fun, you can take a sit and watch. This is a fun way to get the whole family involved in a 4th of July activity.
Visit a Veteran
The 4th of July is a very special day to the veteran’s of our country. Have the kids make some 4th of July crafts or maybe even some cupcakes. Take your special project to a senior citizen community and pass them out to the veteran’s. Not only is this a great way to give back but it will give you and your kids a great learning experience.
Have a Campout
Go camping with your family at your favorite campground or in your own backyard. Instead of telling ghost stories around the campfire, read stores about the American Revolutionary War. If you want to take it up a notch, have everyone recite a piece of the Declaration of Independence. Make it fun and involve the kids!
What ways to you celebrate the 4th of July?
