Extreme heat and humidity can get make you feel dehydrated and wilted. The long days of winter certainly have us wishing for warmer weather, but most of us cannot get used to the humidity that comes with it. Here are 10 tips for beating summer heat.

1- Use Window Curtains- Use curtains on your window that have a white backing. These will reflect the heat away from your window and keep the heat away.
2- Use an Air Conditioner- Use an air conditioner to keep the rooms cool. Make sure to clean the air conditioner at regular intervals in order to keep it running smoothly.
3- Use a Spritzer- Use a spritzer filled with distilled water to spray on yourself when the weather gets hot. This will help to keep you cool.
4- Air Dry Your Dishes- Whether you use a dishwasher or hand wash your dishes, allow them to air dry in the humid weather. Open the dishwasher and permit the warm air to dry them.
5- Wear Light Clothing- Wear light clothing to help drive the heat away from you. Dark colors attract heat, so avoid wearing them when the weather is hot and humid.
6- Eat Lighter Meals- When the weather is hot and humid, eat lighter meals such as salads. This will prevent you from feeling sluggish and out of sorts.
7- Drink Plenty of Liquids- Increase your liquid intake. This means to drink more water and avoid sugar laden drinks.
8- Avoid Strenuous Exercise- When the weather is humid, avoid strenuous exercise. Leave the yard work for another day. If it needs to be done, do it first thing in the morning before the sun is at it highest point.
9- Avoid Alcoholic Drinks- Avoid drinking alcohol during hot and humid days. It tends to dehydrate the body and will have you feeling sluggish.
10- Spice It Up- Spice up the foods a little bit. By doing so, you will sweat a little but feel much cooler afterwards.
